Professional Studio Experience

During my placement with Clare Brown Headwear, I had the opportunity to work within a professional millinery studio and apply industry-standard techniques. I designed and created a hat from start to finish, which involved blocking the base, hand-dyeing materials, and carefully constructing the final piece.

This hands-on experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the precision and creativity required in bespoke millinery. I developed technical skills in shaping, finishing, and fabric manipulation, and gained valuable insight into the workflow of a high-end headwear brand.

Working alongside a practicing milliner also taught me how design decisions are shaped by client needs, materials, and the balance between form and function.
